by Grace WildeHello it's me again Grace. I like to write poems. There are many types of poems. There are Haiku, Rhythmic, Tanka, Acrostic and many others. Today I am going to show you one type of poem called a Tanka. A Tanka poem does not rhyme. Its poem like features come from the number of syllables of each line. The first line has five syllables. The second line has seven syllables. The third line has five syllables. The fourth line has seven syllables. The last line has seven syllables. This is a Tanka poem I created called The Lady in the Pasture. It is supposed to depict the appearance of Our Lady of Fatima. The Lady in the Pasture Sheep bleet in pastures Everything is very still In cloud Lady comes She comes to three little ones She holds them in her kind arms Mary appeared to the three shepherd kids, Jacinta Marto, Lucia Santos, and Francisco Marto on May 13th, 1916. She told the kids to come every month on the 13th. During the time of the apparitions, she foretold about World War 2, the Cold War, and the shooting of St. Pope John Paul II. She said that she loved the world. She asked us to pray for the pope and make up for our sins. This poem depicts the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima as quiet and still. Then Mary comes in the clouds to the three visionaries. She held them close, told them her sadness and love for the world. She instructed them how to do better, like a mother reading a story to a child. Our Lady of Fatima pray for the people of this world and help them to get to heaven.
